The ambitious challenge in the cellar is to improve constantly through continuous experimentation with winemaking techniques, vineyard sources and wine styles. Mourvèdre, a thick-skinned varietal planted throughout the world, produces robust, full-bodied wines with dried herb notes complementing dark fruit aromas and ­flavors.

The extraordinary diversity of Washington wine is on full display at StoneTree Vineyard, where Tedd Wildman grows 16 wine grape varietals. Here, at the center of the warm and dry Wahluke Slope, Mourvèdre reaches maturity very early in the harvest season while retaining varietal character and freshness.
