COLUMBIA VALLEY AVA

The 2014 D2 has a notable dark ruby color with magenta edges. There is a proliferation of red and black fruits on the nose and palate, including blackberries, cranberries, raspberries, pomegranates, black cherries and marionberries. Wrapped around these fruit characters is a presence of mint chocolate, black olive, cedar, toasty oak and vanilla. With bright acidity and good structure, this wine is extremely well built and offers a dollop of red fruit flavors in its lengthy finish.

"The Merlot dominated 2014 D2 Proprietary Red Wine is a fleshy, ripe, yet also elegant wine that offers lots of juicy blackberry and black raspberry fruits, black plums, and crushed flower aromas and flavors. Supple, upfront and balanced, it’s a perfect introduction to the Bordeaux varieties from this estate."

Pungent fruit-driven aromas of cranberry, pomegranate and blackberry. Plush and seamless on the palate, with blackberry and blueberry flavors complicated by a savory dried-berry note that I associate with Red Willow vineyard. D2 is sourced from 15 Columbia Valley Vineyards, including Red Willow, Harrison Hill, Ciel du Cheval, Klipsun, Boushey, DuBrul, Upchurch and Grand Ciel.

Production Notes

Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented for 12-14 days on skin, and aged 18 months in 100% French oak (55% new).

Food Pairing Notes
