2011 Upchurch Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep, rich and concentrated, there is an explosive bouquet of cassis, violets, lilacs, jasmine and sweet thyme all reminiscent of Bordeaux. Actually, an entire spice box of nuances is present in the nose. I like the broad and powerful mouth feel along with the juicy acidity that powers up the blueberries, cassis and blackberries. The wine also shows a touch of spearmint, pencil snap minerality and citrus oil all encased in Red Mountain focus and depth. It truly is a wine defining a single vineyard.
