The 2017 Syrah from DeLille's estate vineyard, Grand Ciel, is immediately formidable, seizing attention with densely rich aromas of charceuterie, marion berry and blackberry, with a subtle and balancing whiff of blood orange. Luscious yet balanced on the palate, this serious effort is unmistakingly loaded with fruit, without being ponderous. Finishes dry, with dusty tannins and all parts in balance; this promises to deliver from the onset and for a decade and a half or more.
Every detail of our Grand Ciel Estate Vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate and soil of Red Mountain. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of the Grand Ciel wines. The results are wines of deep concentration with beautiful proportion and extended complexity.
