2015 Doyenne
The 2015 vintage of Doyenne is a Red Mountain blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and as always, delivers the best of both varietals. On the nose, Syrah supplies raspberry and ripe strawberry, with Cabernet presenting dark cherry and pomegranate in strong support. A plush round entry reveals the accessibility of Syrah, countered by dense Cabernet tannin through the mid-palate and finish. The terroir of Red Mountain is well represented here, with Herbes de Provence and structure throughout.
Review by Jeb Dunnuck for Robert Parker, June 2017
Based on a 60/40 split of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Doyenne offers lots of darker fruits, graphite, peppery spice and a kiss of leather on the nose. These carry to a sweetly fruited, fresh, lively red that shines for its balance and purity. It’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate, yet keep for a decade.
