2014 Red Willow Malbec
This is a single vineyard Malbec from Red Willow Vineyard. It reveals a dark and rich ruby color moving right to its edges. There are smoky grape skin aromas with sauvage (gamy, earthy) notes. Delicious ripe flavors of red berries, fruit leather, pomegranate and açai berry exist along with layers of vanilla, mocha, rosemary, clove and cinnamon. This is a very cool wine - a classic, hedonistic Malbec that finishes with a plush, rich, long and lingering finish.
Jeb Dunnuck for Robert Parker, #231, June 2017:
One of the few examples of this variety from Washington that can compete with the top examples coming from South America, the 2014 Malbec comes all from the Red Willow Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. It reveals a deep purple color as well as classic notes of ripe, chocolaty black fruits, tobacco leaf, earth and smoked herbs. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, sexy red that has both richness and freshness. I'd drink this sexy red over the coming 4-6 years, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it keep longer.
