2014 Four Flags Cabernet

2014 Four Flags Cabernet
RED MOUNTAIN AVA

The 2014 Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits classic Cabernet aromas of cassis, violets and Herbs de Provence. This wine screams of Red Mountain’s terroir with its combination of great structure and ripeness.  On the palate, Four Flags is focused and savory with ripe, firm tannins. This vintage shows notes of fresh plums, currants and blueberries along with cardamom, fennel seed and a touch of flint.

Blended from four of the finest vineyards in the Red Mountain AVA, Four Flags possesses the character, richness and venerable structure that have become the signature qualities of Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

Each vineyard adds its unique pedigree to this complex blend. Grand Ciel (42%) brings elegance and purity of fruit while Upchurch (31%) demonstrates rich, savory, and mouthwatering character. Ciel du Cheval (19%) contributes structure, black fruits and minerality balanced by the commanding, ripe flavors from Klipsun (8%).

Masterfully blended, Four Flags is a harmonious and complex representation of the incomparable terroir of Red Mountain and a tribute to our steadfast commitment to this respected viticultural area.

Review by Jeb Dunnuck for Robert Parker, #231, June 2017:

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Four Flags comes from four different vineyards on Red Mountain: Grand Ciel (42%), Upchurch (31%), Ciel du Cheval (19%) and Klipsun (8%). It shows the vintage's more forward, charming style with its full-bodied, rich, textured style, yet it firms up considerably on the finish. Possessing lots of graphite, toasted spice, currants and black raspberry aromatics, I love its purity and balance. It's best today with a decant, but it should be in its finest from 2020-2034.
